HIGH ADVENTURE TRIPS FOR 2016-2017!
2017 BSA National Jamboree signups are over and several of our awesome 777 scouts will be attending the 2017 BSA National Jamboree! We look forward to hearing about their experiences as they prepare and then embark on a trip of a lifetime!
A trip Sea Base is our second trip - check back here later for pictures!
Confirmed weekend: This weekend will be the first camp out of the 2015 - 2016 scout year and it will be a great weekend! Niagara Falls - we will travel Northeast and camp next to Lake Ontario within a short hop to Niagara Falls. We will stay on the American side and explore the falls and maybe take the tour behind the falls or on the Maid of the Mist. We will then leave the falls and head to the gorge to hike and explore along the river (a most awesome place to hike with water traveling by at 20+ MPH). We will also plan to visit and tour Fort Niagara, which is a very historic fort built where the Delaware River empties into Lake Ontario before heading home on Sunday.
The cost of this campout is $20 per person. We will leave the church at 6:30 PM sharp so please plan to arrive at 6:15 PM Friday night. Scouts should have eaten dinner prior to arrival. Scouts should bring maybe an additional $20 for spending and road snacks.
Confirmed weekend: This will be a joint weekend with our district (MOE) and GTC Chippewa District and the Northeast Ohio Orienteering Club (NEOOC). Guessing by the groups involved, orienteering will be the weekend theme with super fun activities and events... We will be camping at Camp Butler. We will leave the church at 7 PM sharp so please plan to arrive at 6:40 PM Friday night. Don't miss this fun filled weekend!
Confirmed weekend: Gettysburg Historic Trails 3-day Weekend Campout - We need to know who is going on this trip early in order to organize leaders and gear! Mr. Tremmel will be leading this trip - we will leave the church very early Friday (school is closed today so it is a 3-day weekend for the scouts). Not everybody can leave town for 3 long days we know, but for those that do, the rewards will be great. We will walk the trails of soldiers past as see the great battlefields of Gettysburg. Scouts who attend this camp out will be eligible to get the very cool Historic Trails Medal pictured below. Scouts entering the 6th grade will get a leg-up on the 6th grade project which deals with this time period in our nation's history. Scouts should bring maybe an additional $20 for spending and road snacks.

We will camp in the three-sided cabins and do the activities that Camp Manatoc has to offer. We usually do age-seperated Geocaching, cold weather camping, and lay back a bit and enjoy! The older scouts will be sent on a geocache they will never forget! The younger scouts will also go geocaching, and work on advancement requirements while enjoying a campsite without the older scouts.

This is the last weekend that qualifies for the polar bear patch! The troop will return to Camp Merz outside of Lake Chataqua located in the mountains of NY! Snow tubing Weekend! Please be at the church at 6:45 to leave the church at 7.00 PM and head to NY to stay at BSA Camp Merz. We will stay in Adirondack cabins atop a mountain overlooking a snow-covered valley - very cool!!! We will spend the majority of Saturday snow-tubing at Holiday Valley Resort tubing! Scouts with the rest of the time spent outside at camp - bring lots of dry, warm clothes! The cost of this camp out will be $40. Scouts should bring maybe an additional $20 for spending and road snacks. We will bring the scouts home early on Sunday with the intent of being back before noon.
WEEKEND CAMPING CANCELED!
Confirmed weekend: All wood weekend! Camp Tuscazoar is one of the oldest camps used for Scouting in Ohio and is a troop favorite. The camp was saved from strip mining by old camp staff members after the decision was made to close the camp down. History and indian lore abound here. We will camp using only wood for fuel for a weekend of good eating! Activities include visiting the Zoarville bridge, seeing the mines, checking out the new portions of camp, getting in some good hiking, and eating mighty fine wood-cooked food! We will also visit the sugar shack to witness maple syrup being made, see the old iron mines, visit a historic restored Fink through-tressle bridge, and climb Pioneer Point and Buzzards Roost. A full and fun weekend, while relaxing around a warm wood fire! We will leave the church at 7:00 PM on Friday.

Confirmed weekend: Hocking Hills has great hiking and open caves to explore. The scenery is very pretty and the trails are not really long. We might be able to bike there if we go during nice weather. This would be a good campout to do an all-wood weekend and work on requirements. We will try to stay in the primative camping area far from the crouds!
